I provide individual therapy to adults through using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based approaches. I offer a safe, non-judgmental space and I collaborate with clients regarding their therapy goals. Individual therapy may be short-term or long-term, based on individual needs of the client and my clinical assessment of how therapy might be beneficial.

CBT AND ACT

"If you can't change it, change your attitude." - Maya Angelou

CBT and ACT are two separate but similar approaches to working with our thoughts, feelings, and actions to improve our life. I can help clients develop or strengthen skills in better managing their thoughts and feelings to help get them back in their lives in a more fulfilling manner. While these therapies can be used separately, I often combine strategies from both in a manner that best suits each client.

MINDFULNESS

“Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally. This kind of attention nurtures greater awareness, clarity, and acceptance of the present-moment reality. It wakes us up to the fact that our lives unfold only in moments. If we are not fully present for many of those moments, we may not only miss what is most valuable in our lives but also fail to realize the richness and the depth of our possibilities for growth and transformation.” - Jon Kabat-Zinn

Incorporating mindfulness into therapy helps us to be more present in our lives, which can bring more meaning to our lives. I often teach mindfulness skills that are both formal (meditation exercises) and informal (how to include mindfulness in regular, daily activities), based on the client’s needs and interests.
